Do I need to use double envelopes with pochette invitations?

Posted on by

Many people wonder whether it is necessary to use double envelopes to mail pochette invitation ensembles. The answer to this question is no. Double envelopes are reserved for traditional style invitations, and pochettes are a contemporary style. Inner and outer envelopes are not necessary for pochettes, and in fact, pochettes serve as inner envelopes in and of themselves. Watch the video to learn more!

What size pochette fold are these invitations and what size envelope also? This there a certain size that the paper has to be cut to?

  2. Samantha Calhoun says:

When using a pochette, can you write the names of your guests like you would an inner envelope? Would you need a special kind of pen to do that because of the pochette’s finish?

  3. Cindy says:

Can the pochette itself be used as an outer envelope? Meaning will it be heavy/durable enough to hold up in the mail?

    • Kristen says:

      Hi Cindy,

We do not recommend mailing pochettes without an outer mailing envelope, as the petals can get caught up during the mailing process and open up in route.

  4. Marquita B says:

Do pochettes require extra postage? Also do you offer an printing options for the actual flat card that goes inside the pochette?

    • Kristen says:

      Hi Marquita,

Square pochettes automatically require extra postage based on their shape. Rectangular 5 x 7 pochettes do not automatically require extra postage based on size/shape, but typically by the time you add your pochette, insert card, and response items to your envelope, weight causes these types of invitations to require additional postage.

As always, we recommend bringing a finished ensemble to your local post office prior to mailing so you can be sure that your invitations have the right amount of postage on them.

We do offer custom printing on insert cards. Please view our custom card printing page for additional information.

  5. Vicky Gonzalez says:

When you put the band onto the pochette do you face the front of the band on the petals? or on the flat side?

    • Kristen says:

      Hi Vicky,

Yes, typically the front of the band wraps around where the petals come together, and is sealed in the back on the plain side.

  6. Evelyn says:

What size is the rsvp card and envelope?

    • Kristen says:

      Hello Evelyn,

You can either use an A1 or A2 sized RSVP card and envelope. Both will fit inside – it is a matter of preference.
