Nature Inspired Wedding Invitations

Posted on by

Because wedding colors are so important in so many different aspects of the entire wedding event, often the choice of colors is one of the first decisions the bride & groom will make. Ultimately, the colors will be considered for save the date announcements, invitations, decorations, and clothing for the bride, groom, and their wedding party. Wedding colors might even play a part in the location and time of year the couple marries and vice versa.

At the Project Wedding forum, a recent bride-to-be inquiry about the color combination of dark brown and green, specifically for a pocket fold wedding invitation, got my creative side thinking. My first thought was Herbeus–a green color within Gmund’s Vice Versa line of card stocks. When paired with another nature-inspired color like Humus or Coco–both dark browns–we have stunning combinations:

brown & green A7 pocket fold Made with:
* Humus rectangular pocket fold
* 6 7/8″ x 4 7/8″ invitation card cut from Herbeus 8 1/2″ x 11″ textured card stock
Coco & Herbeus green square pocket fold Made with:
* Coco square pocket fold
* 6″ x 6″ backing card cut from Herbeus 8 1/2″ x 11″ textured card stock
* 5 1/4″ Ecru invitation card

Then I tried a similar color combination using metallic Stardream card stocks in the colors of Fairway (green) and Bronze:

Stardream Bronze & Fairway pocket fold Made with:
* Bronze rectangular pocket fold
* 6 7/8″ x 4 7/8″ invitation card cut from Fairway 8 1/2″ x 11″ metallic card stock

Each of these three color combinations would make a unique, outdoorsy wedding invitation, reminiscent of perhaps green grass and the leaves, trunk, and branches of a tree.

How do you feel about this color combination? Do you have something similar or slightly different in mind for your wedding invitations? Post a comment and let us know.
