In this video, you’ll learn how to custom line your envelopes using any specialty paper you choose. The tool that makes it possible is our acrylic Envelope Liner Template, available in two sizes, A2 / 6 1/2 square & A7. For this video, we’ll use the A7 liner template to line our A7 – 5 ¼ by 7 ¼ square flap envelopes. We’ll line the envelopes using Japanese Chiyogami paper, Babys Breath design.

Items Used

Step 1: Trace the Template on the Back of the Chiyogami Paper

This way, after you trace it, you won’t have any pencil lines remaining on the front of the paper after it’s cut.

Step 2: Cut Away the Envelope Liner that You Just Traced

Use scissors or a precision blade.

Step 3: Place the Liner Inside the Envelope Flap and Adhere

We like to place the liner inside and fold it in position before gluing. It makes for a smoother envelope liner. Line it about where you want it and just be careful when you do fold that you don’t wrinkle any of the liner.

That’s it! You’ve just custom lined your own envelope! You can see how a matching lined envelope really makes for a nice presentation.

When lining your own envelopes, what kind of glue and where do you apply it so that it doesn’t make a visible lump? Many glues seem to leave tell tale “home made” signs.
How far down into the envelope do you typically place the liner?
