Use Ribbon & Self-Adhesive Bows to Dress Traditional Place Cards

Ribbons and bows are a great way to decorate place cards, add a splash of color, and incorporate theme. Choose from dozens of colors of satin and chiffon ribbon and self-adhesive bows to dress up your cards.

Here’s How We Did It

The ecru card on the left was quickly and easily embellished using a satin cream self-stick bow, while the white card was embellished with approximately one foot of black satin ribbon. Using a hand held ribbon stitch craft punch, a hole was punched at the top of the card for the ribbon to be laced through. After lacing the ribbon through the hole, it was simply tied into a knot, then a decorative bow, at the top.

Try a Pre-Tied Elastic Loop

Perfectly tied metallic place card loops are available in silver and gold – just slip the card through the loop, adjust accordingly, and you’re done!

Incorporate Theme with Decorative Metal Brads

Metal brads are another great way to decorate and incorporate theme. Eight fun designs are available.

Here’s How We Did It

Please note, some brads have posts, and some do not. Brads with posts can be secured to the card using just the brad post, such as on the place card with the open flower brad on the left.

To use brads with posts, first make a small hole in the place card for the post. A micro-round hand held craft punch works well for this. Then, simply line up the hole in the center of the brad with the hole in the place card, and push the brad through both holes. To secure the brad in place, turn the card over, open the butterfly ends of the brad post, and fold them down towards the card.

Brads without posts need an alternative way of being secured to the card, such as the silver wedding ring brad on the right, which was simply tied onto the card with red satin ribbon.

Please note, blank style 4-Up Place cards come in 50 sheet packs, yielding 200 place cards per package, instead of 10 packs, which yield 40 total cards.
