Layered Invitations – The Basic Components

Backer Card – The invitation backer card is a sturdy card to secure all of your layers to.

Metallic, Textured, and Smooth Invitation Backer Cards in a Variety of Colors

Decorative Layer (Optional) – The decorative layer sits between between your backer and invitation cards, and adds a bit of decorative flare, as seen in the invitations above.

Japanese Chiyogmai and Colorful Invitation Layers

Printable Invitation Card – The printable invitation card is a text weight card that runs easily through a printer.

Text Weight Ecru, White, and Colorful Invitation Layers

Overlay (Optional) – An overlay is a final translucent layer that adds a touch of intrigue to your invitation.

Step 1: Choose Your Layers

Decorative Layer
If you wish to have a decorative layer, Japanese chiyogami paper,Japanese pearlized paper, and colorful invitation layering paper work well for this purpose.

Variety of Layered Invitations Please note, many prefer to match their invitation card to their envelope. If you would like your invitation card to match your envelope, be sure to choose your envelope prior to assembly, to avoid future disappointment.

Step 2: Print Your Invitation Card

Step 3: Arrange Your Layers

Although many invitations are assembled with centered layers and uniform borders, this is simply a matter of preference. As you are creating this invitation specifically for your event, you can place your layers as you see fit. Step 4: Adhere Your Layers

Layers can be effectively adhered with a glue marker, double sided tape, or decorative paper clips and brads. Again, how you choose to secure your layers is a matter of preference.
