Things To Consider Before Assembling Your Invitations

Before assembling your do it yourself invitations, you’ll want to have an idea of the postage cost. Assemble one complete invitation as instructed in my Preparing Your Wedding Invitations With Double Envelopes article, complete with all enclosures, and bring it to your post office so you can get a correct weight and cost. This could save you some frustration later.

When you return to the post office with your completed invitations, you should ask the postal worker to “hand cancel” your invitations so that your envelopes are stamped by hand instead of run through their postage machine. If your invitations are hand canceled, they are less likely to be damaged.

And before printing your envelopes, keep in mind that only the outer envelope includes the mailing address of your guest. Print only your guest’s name on the inner envelope.
