How To Use Our Word Templates

1. Download Template
Download the templates above and save them to your hard drive.

2. Open Template
Open Microsoft Word, or any word processor capable of reading DOC files. Open the template by going to File, Open... and browsing to the location where you saved the template files.

3. Enter Custom Text
Each scored panel of the Seal & Send appears in Word has its own Text Box where you can type your custom invitation text or other information, replacing the placeholder text.

4. Create A New Custom Paper Size
When you are ready to print, go to File, Print... and click on the Properties button in the top righthand corner of the Print window.

Click on the Paper/Quality tab. (Please note that your printer dialog box may look slightly different. Just look for similar options in your Print Properties window).

Under Paper Options, notice where it displays Size: and the dimensions of the paper as an option in the dropdown menu. The default paper size is Letter, or 8 ˝ x 11. Click on the Custom... button underneath the dropdown menu in order to specify the exact size of your Seal & Send invitation. A window will pop up to create a new custom size. Enter in a name for your new custom size in the Name field (“Seal & Send”, for example). Below this field, enter the width and length of the Seal & Send invitation in inches. Set the width to 5.75 inches and the length to 14 inches**.

Click the Save button.

Click the OK button on the previous window (the Document Properties window) and then click the Cancel button on the Print window. These windows need to be closed to ensure that the custom paper size is saved properly and can be used for this template (see Step Five).

** The actual length of the Seal & Send Invitation is 14.5 inches. However, most printers will not accept dimensions longer than legal size paper (14 inches). Setting the length to 14 inches in the printer settings eliminates this problem, and the extra half inch of the actual invitation (not the template) is unprinted. You can use this space as a nice margin at the bottom of the perforated response card.

5. Set Custom Paper Size
Return to the paper size options in the Print Properties by going to File, Print... Click the Properties button on the Print window, and go to the Paper/Quality tab. The custom paper size you saved previously is now an option on the dropdown menu. Left-click the arrow to the right of the dropdown menu, browse the list and select your custom paper size by the Name you specified in Step Four. Click the OK button, returning you to the Print window. Now that the printer is aware of the size of the invitation in the paper tray, you are ready to print.

6. Print Document
We recommend printing a test on a piece of paper cut to the same dimensions as your unfolded Seal & Send Invitation. When the test invitation is printed, overlay it on a blank Seal & Send Invitation to make sure the text lines up correctly within each scored panel. When everything is aligned, put your blank Seal & Send invitations in the printer’s paper tray and print as many copies as you need. You may want to print the invitations in quantities of 25 at a time, just in case the printer ink runs low or the paper feed rollers begin to leave smudges on the invitations.
