Japanese Paper - 8 ½ x 11 - Mokume

Mokume means "wood grain surface." Traditional handmade Japanese papers were dried on wooden boards, and the wood grain pattern of the drying boards often remained embedded on the final papers. This subtle patterning gave a distinctive character to those papers, and was the inspiration for this embossed machine-made variation.
